AMS experiment measures antimatter excess in space | CERN
"The
AMS results are based on some 25 billion recorded events, including
400,000 positrons with energies between 0.5 GeV and 350 GeV, recorded
over a year and a half. This represents the largest collection of
antimatter particles recorded in space. The positron fraction increases
from 10 GeV to 250 GeV, with the data showing the slope of the increase
reducing by an order of magnitude over the range 20-250 GeV. The data
also show no significant variation over time, or any preferred incoming
direction. "

[0810.5344] The PAMELA Positron Excess from Annihilations into a Light Boson
"Recently
published results from the PAMELA experiment have shown conclusive
evidence for an excess of positrons at high (~ 10 - 100 GeV) energies,
confirming earlier indications from HEAT and AMS-01. "

comparison of AMS results with recent published measurements. With its
magnet and precision particle detectors, high accuracy and statistics,
the first result of AMS, based on only ~10% of the total data expected,
is clearly distinguished from earlier experiments

"Figure 2 illustrates the AMS data presented in the first publication.
The
positron fraction measured by AMS demonstrates excellent agreement with
the model described below. Even with the high statistics, 6.8 million
events, and accuracy of AMS, the fraction shows no fine structure.
The
exact shape of the spectrum, as shown in Figure 2, extended to higher
energies, will ultimately determine whether this spectrum originates
from the collision of dark matter particles or from pulsars in the
galaxy. The high level of accuracy of this data shows that AMS will
soon resolve this issue."
